Built as a movie palace in 1927, the renovated Alabama Theatre now hosts approximately 300 events a year, including concerts, stand-up comedy, dance and Opera Birmingham performances. It formerly was the host of the Miss Alabama Pageant. It lies a few blocks southwest of Kelly Ingram Park.
